Although I have been teaching two digit addition and subtraction for months now to my second graders, I feel like they can never get enough practice with this skill. That is why I created a bundle of extra practice with 2 digit addition and subtraction for my classroom.
Place Value
I always make sure to review place value with my students before giving them extra practice with 2 digit addition and subtraction. They have to have a full understanding of ones and tens to have a solid foundation for the next steps.
Regrouping and No Regrouping
When giving my students extra practice with 2 digit addition and subtraction I make sure to include regrouping and no regrouping. It is important that my students are able to work problems comfortably.
Rewriting the Problem
I also like to make sure that my students can solve equations in multiple formats. I like to have them rewrite equations and then solve to make sure they are ready for anything.
Games
You guys know that I love to turn learning into something fun for my students. I have found that they love my spinner worksheets so I use them whenever I get the chance. I love that this style of worksheet changes up the problems my students are working on no matter how many times we use them for extra practice with 2 digit addition and subtraction.
And More Games
I have also found that my students love this domino worksheet and think they are playing a game here. I will also pull out the game of dominoes and let them draw some out of a bag to make new equations for even more extra practice with 2 digit addition and subtraction.
