Description

Looking for a meaningful and memorable Christmas STEM Challenge this December? This simple hands-on activity teaches students about the traditions and symbols of Christmas while giving them the chance to create a small gift box they can turn into an act of kindness.

Using just graph paper, a pencil, a ruler, tape, and scissors, students complete two challenges:

  1. Design a paper gift box pattern using graph paper.

  2. Create a Christmas-themed design for their gift box.

This activity includes everything you need for an easy, low-prep Christmas STEM challenge:

  • Teacher background + coaching questions

  • Learning objectives

  • Optional 5E lesson plan

  • Symbols of Christmas reading passage with comprehension questions

  • Symbols of Christmas booklet

  • STEM/STEAM planning sheet
