I have chosen 3 important skills that are taught in this story. I also have included a vocabulary definition match, making words center and ABC Order with vocabulary and comprehension questions. Also, a few printables to go with the story.

**Words with -er
Directions:Read the sentences. Decide what word is missing in each. Match,
**Roll, Read, and Color (2 pages of Spelling words~ 6 per page)
Read each set of words. Decide if it describes a penguin or not.
**Using a Dictionary
Cut the words apart. Have the students match the word to go between the two guide words.
Have them use the recording sheet.
Also, this skill should be taught prior to using this center.

*Venn Diagram (Compare Penguins and Chickens)
*Write to inform flap book (Problem, Detail, Solution)
*Adjectives ~ Directions: List all of the words that you think of that describe a penguin.
Choose 4 words and write in a complete sentence.
