About Phonemic Awareness:
This download is designed by a teacher for teachers. Phonemic awareness is essential to teaching reading. You can use these Oral Task Cards whole group, but studies show it is more effective in small groups or one on one.
What is Phonemic Awareness?
Phonemic awareness is the ability to HEAR, identify, and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in a spoken word. Before children learn to read print, they need to become aware of how sounds work in words. Phonemic awareness improves student’s word reading, spelling, and comprehension.
Daily instruction should only last 5 to 10 minutes during your reading block.
