Turkey and Fun?
Turkey and fun are not always words that I put hand in hand, but the Thanksgiving fun packet might be the exception! This resource is stocked full of learning and student fun. With over 20 pages covering math and literacy everything is covered.
One of my students favorite activities is any kind of puzzle. The Thanksgiving fun packet has several different puzzles. In one students will solve math equations and then cut and paste their answers to create a picture. In another they will follow numerical order and complete a dot to dot. And then there are colors by numbers while following a pattern. Each and every puzzle presents a different learning opportunity for your students.
Teaching spelling is not what it used to be. It is difficult now to find time to spend on new words and vocabulary just by themselves. Several of the pages in the Thanksgiving fun packet have spelling practice “hidden” in them. Your students will have multiple opportunities to practice their spelling skills.
One of my favorite things in the Thanksgiving fun packet is the bookmark page. I am always trying to find new ways to get my students reading. It never ceases to amaze me how they are always a little more willing to pick up something new if they have a fancy new bookmark. I love to laminate them for my students so that they can keep them for a while.
I like to end the Thanksgiving season with a small classroom feast. We discuss some of the foods that would have been shared all those years ago. So included in the Thanksgiving fun packet are some headbands that the students can cut out and color. They are great for that party, for students to show off their hard work.
